Upload documents

Supported file types, size limits, and how PDFs, spreadsheets and images are read.

Documents fill the gaps your website leaves: internal FAQs, product manuals, policies, price lists and spreadsheets. If those documents live in Notion or Google Drive, connect the app instead of exporting them, so they stay in sync; for a single fact, a text snippet or Q&A pair is quicker than a file.

Supported files

PDF	`.pdf`	Text is read straight from the file's text layer. Only scanned pages, which have no text layer, are transcribed by a vision model.

Text	`.txt`, `.md` (Markdown), `.html`	HTML is converted to text on our servers; menus, headers and footers are dropped.
Data	`.csv`, `.json`	Rows and fields become readable text.
Images	`.jpg`, `.png`, `.webp`, `.gif`	Read by a vision model, useful for diagrams, menus and screenshots that contain text.

Each upload can be up to 25 MB. Text extracted from your documents counts against your plan's knowledge-base cap (20 MB on Free, 200 MB on Starter, 1 GB on Growth).

Upload a document

Open Knowledge Base and click Add New
Choose the file option and pick one or more files from your computer.
Pick a category (optional)
Categories help you find sources later.
Wait for processing
Extraction runs in the background. Large PDFs with many scanned pages take longest.

Replacing a document

Upload a file with the same name and it replaces the previous version. This is the cleanest way to keep a price list or a policy current without leaving two versions the agent might quote.

Tips for good documents

Prefer text PDFs over scans where you can; extraction is more precise.
Spreadsheets work best with a header row and one fact per row.
Split very long manuals by topic so the relevant part is easier to retrieve.
Remove internal notes you would not want quoted to a customer. The agent can only quote what it can read, but it can read everything you upload.
